A RECORD turn out of 850 people enjoyed the Royston Pink Ribbon Run/Walk on Sunday.

Runners and walkers of all ages endured warm conditions as they completed the course on Therfield Heath to raise cash for Marie Curie Cancer care.

Royston MP Oliver Heald and town mayor, Cllr Rod Kennedy, addressed the crowd before starting the race.

Mr Heald, who completed the 5km course in a respectable time of 31 minutes, said the event makes you "proud to be a Royston resident."

He said: "This is a marvellous event and all credit to the organising team. I am sure this will have made a lot of money to support Marie Curie nurses and it makes me proud to be a Royston resident.
