A SELL-OUT audience watched the first official screening at Royston’s new community cinema.
The Royston Picture Palace opened its doors on Friday, with the first film shown Iron Man 3. Organisers reported a capacity crowd, with most tickets selling out in advance.
Geraint Burnell, Royston’s town centre manager, said: “The cinema is a fantastic addition to the community and the feedback we have received tonight has been very encouraging. We’ve got a great line-up of films for the coming months and, judging by tonight’s success, I’m sure people will continue to enjoy and support the cinema.”.
Mr Burnell added that the Picture Palace had generated an enthusiastic response from cinema-goers, with positive feedback about everything from the comfort and décor of the 134-seat auditorium, to the quality of the digital projection and sound system and warm welcome of the volunteer staff.
Located at Royston Town Hall, the Picture Palace, which has been funded by Royston Town Council and Royston First business improvement district company, will be screening films every Friday and Saturday night. Tickets can be booked online at www.roystonpicturepalace.org.uk, or at Royston Library.
