Retailers are looking forward to welcoming Christmas shoppers this Friday, December 18, as they take advantage of the free car parking, which is being subsidised by North Herts district council's Royston area committee.

Cllr Fiona Hill, chairman of the area committee, said: "We listened to what traders had to say and they were keen to try free shopping on the Friday before Christmas. The town centre is a main priority for the Council and I do hope people from Royston and from further afield will take the opportunity to come and remind themselves of what the town has to offer."

The free parking offer will apply all day at the district council owned car parks at the Civic Centre, The Warren, Priory Gardens, John Street, Angel Pavement and the Market Place. The car park at Princes Mews will also be free.
