Foxton residents are being encouraged to attend a public meeting being held this evening on the expansion of the village conservation area.
Foxton residents are being encouraged to attend a public meeting being held this evening on the expansion of the village conservation area.
South Cambridgeshire District Council and Foxton Parish Council are holding a joint public consultation on Foxton’s Conservation Area Appraisal – to extend the area of special architectural and historic interest.
The proposals are for a substantial increase in the conservation area – which was designated in 1972 and includes the west end of High Street, The Green and Malting Lane.
The proposed expansion includes all of High Street and Mortimers Lane, and parts of Station Road and Fowlmere Road. The listed buildings in the village, including St Laurence’s church and Foxton House - and its historic parkland - are also part of the plans.
Councillor Robert Turner, the district council’s cabinet member for planning, said: “There is currently a small conservation area in Foxton, but we believe the proposed enlarged one will better reflect the heritage of the village.
“We’re really pleased to be working with the community on these plans and look forward to hearing more about what they have to say during the consultation. If you can’t make the event make sure you visit our website and have your say.”
