Angela Mulholland’s daughter Eilish was diagnosed with a Wilm’s tumour in Oct 2013.
She endured treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery but sadly passed away after 51 weeks of treatment.
The Beads of Courage programme by the Be Camcer Aware charity has been rolled out in 76 hospitals in the UK – including Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and throughout Eilish’s treatment journey she collected a different coloured bead for each different medical intervention – a red bead for each blood transfusion and a white bead for each chemotherapy round.
“Eilish loved collecting her beads, and they make such a motivational difference to all cancer and chronic illness sufferers, representing their brave journeys,” said Angela.
“We are fundraising to maintain the Beads of Courage at Addenbrooke’s in Eilish’s memory.”
