To honour the memory of her daughter who died after suffering from kidney cancer at the age of four, a Fowlmere woman is holding an Easter Treasure Trail on Friday.

Angela Mulholland’s daughter Eilish was diagnosed with a tumour on her kidney in October 2013.

She endured treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery, but unfortunately after 51 weeks of treatment at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and the Royal Marsden in London, she passed away the following year.

Throughout Eilish’s treatment she collected the Beads of Courage, a different coloured bead for each different medical intervention she faced.

Angela said: “Eilish loved collecting her beads, and they make such a motivational difference to all cancer and chronic illness sufferers, representing their brave journeys.

“We are fundraising to maintain the Beads of Courage at Addenbrooke’s in Eilish’s memory, through the Be Child Cancer Aware Charity, who support the Beads of Courage programme across 76 hospitals in the UK.”

The Easter Treasure Trail will take place around Fowlmere starting at 10am, at The Butts.

People are invited to come along and with the aid of a map, walk around Fowlmere collecting letters from the clues left.

Entry is £2 in advance and £3 on the day.

You can enter as a family or team with a maximum of five members and will be entered into the ‘best team name’ competition.

There will also be a decorate an egg competition.

In advance, decorate an egg at home and bring your entry along to the trail by 10.30am for judging. The entry fee for the decorate an egg competition is £1.

A raffle will also be held to raise extra funds and refreshments will be available on the day.

As part of the Beads of Courage programme, a different coloured bead represents each medical intervention, such as red beads for blood transfusion and white beads for chemotherapy.
