A JUDGE has ordered the ex-treasurer of the Royston & District Motor Cycle Club to pay a total of £5,033.

It emerged this week that the order was made by District Judge Gill after a hearing at the Luton County Court.

The ex-treasurer, Anne Johnston, of Guilden Morden, was ordered to pay the club £3,983 and costs of £1,050.

The money was found to be missing from an account at the Royston branch of the Saffron Walden & District Building Society, which the club held for charity money raised for disabled children at the Meldreth Manor School.

Club secretary Peter Howes said: "The case has taken a long time to get this result.

"It's been upsetting for the club and for the many people who worked hard to raise this money for a worthy cause.
