A FORMER Royal Marine undertook one of his toughest challenges yet, taking part in a charity waxing in aid of the Royal British Legion (RBL).
Alwyn Davies faced up to the challenge at the RBL Club in Mill Road, Royston, as part of Armed Forces Day, and had his chest and belly hair waxed by beautician Natasha Heath, from Touch of Glamour beauty salon in Buntingford.
Guests at the club were also invited to wax a strip for a bargain price of £5, while donations were taken throughout the evening.
Royston RBL chairman Geoff Apperley said: “Throughout the wax off, Alwyn showed the stiff upper lip expected of an ex-regular with only the occasional whimper and ended up with a very pink chest and belly. There was lots of audience support and banter during the event.”
Sponsorship money is still coming in, but £450 has already been raised and will go towards the Royston poppy appeal.
