ROYSTON football club has had the opening hours at its social club extended for Fridays and Saturdays.
The club will now be able to stay open until 12.30am on Fridays and Saturdays following a decision from North Herts District Council's licensing and appeals committee last week. Previously the club, in Garden Walk, had to close at midnight.
It has also been given an extra 30 minutes opening time on New Year's Eve, and for the club presentation night, when it is allowed to stay open until 1.30am.
Initially the club had applied to stay open until 2am at weekends, but this was altered following complaints from residents, including those living in the nearby Collingwood Court retirement complex.
Football club president Alan Barlow told The Crow earlier this month that the club had asked for the new licence to give it "more flexibility" when hosting functions.
