It’s £12 on the door at the Royston Folk Club gig, but if you’re under 25 you’ll only be asked for £2 – and if you’re older you can save yourself the same amount by booking your place in advance.

The bill features both Hannah Sanders and Ben Savage and the Sheri Kershaw band, and the music starts at 8pm.

Hannah has wowed the critics and won praise for her “beautiful voice which breathes new life into traditional material from both sides of the pond” with Ben providing dobro and acoustic guitar accompaniment.

She is fast building a reputation as one of the most exciting singers on the circuit.

Her debut Charms Against Sorrow was released just over a year ago to much critical acclaim, with folk scene elder statesman Mike Harding hailing it as “absolutely fantastic... Every track is a pearl!”

She grew up travelling Europe singing unaccompanied folk songs in four-part harmony with her family band, The Dunns.

She then left music to pursue a career as a cultural anthropologist, becoming a leading expert on contemporary witchcraft and popular culture and living in the USA. Her recent return to Britain coincided with a return to folk singing, accompanied on baritone dulcimer and guitar. You can find out more about her career so far online at www.hannahsandersfolk.com.

Sheri Kershaw is probably best know for her work with former husband and 1980s chart-topper Nik Kershaw, but has proved herself to be prodigiously talented in her own right.

Her recent work showcases an eclectic range of influences with classy songwriting delivered by a talented trio –Sheri on vocals and guitar, Martyn Hewitt on guitar and and Chris Brimley on guitar and bass. Find out more at www.sherikershaw.com.
