MORE than 20 veteran pilots and 70 planes were on show at the Flying Legends Airshow at Duxford at the weekend.

The show included a Spitfire scramble, a display by a German ME109, which made its airshow debut after a rebuild, and the last three Bristol fighters.

There was a display, too, of planes that have appeared in films such as The Memphis Belle, Pearl Harbor and Saving Private Ryan.

Tracey Woods, marketing and PR manager, said: "The show went better than we expected.

"It saw some of the most valuable aircrafts in the world, displayed by some of the most experienced pilots."

The next airshow at Duxford will be a Spitfire anniversary on September 2-3.
