Kite Festival takes off
The Rotary Club event attracted an estimated crowd of 5,000, and featured six hours of kite-filled fun and entertainment.
A figure for the amount of money raised has not officially been announced, but it is expected to exceed the 5,000 made at the 2009 event.
The children’s kite-making competition was judged by Rotary Club president Jonathan Berks, Royston Lions president Russell Jones, and Royston Town Mayor Martin Beaver. The winners were Jamie Lilley, five and Gabriella Dancer, 11.
Mr Berks said: “It was a marvellous day. As usual the people of Royston and further afield, turned out in large numbers to enjoy a great family day out, and enable us to raise money for worthy causes.”
