A WOMAN is in a critical but stable condition in hospital after a two-car smash on the A505.

The 30-year old from Cottenham suffered serious injuries in the incident, which happened on Saturday at 5.45pm at the junction of the A505 and New Road, the turning for Melbourn.

She was a passenger in a Volvo 850 T5, which was in collision with a Vauxhall Vectra near the junction.

Two other passengers in the Volvo, a 26-year old man and a 20-year woman, both from Cottenham, suffered serious but not life threatening injuries in the incident.

The driver, a 56-year old woman from Cottenham sustained minor injuries, as did the driver of the Vectra, a 33-year old man from Haverhill.

All the victims were taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital for treatment.

Sgt Gareth Williams, who is investigating, said: "I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles in the moments leading up to the incident."
