GOVERNMENT minister Mervyn Davies visited a Melbourn firm.

Mr Davies, the newly appointed Minister for Trade and Investment, spent time at communications firm TTP during a visit to the area last Thursday.

Peter Taylor, chief executive of TTP, said: "The minister saw us on a day when we were starting one new high tech business and shipping a revolutionary new system worth millions of pounds from another.

"He rapidly demonstrated that he is fully engaged with the issues facing businesses like ours competing in the global technology marketplace.

"We are optimistic about the role he will play."

The trip also saw Mr Davies visit a couple of other firms in the area.

He said: "The East of England is a prime example of partnership.

"Today, I've seen businesses, academia, Government, and the regional authority working together to bring prosperity to this region.
