ROYSTON firefighters have recognised the work of veteran campaigner Terry Hutt.
Sub-officer Peter Chapman handed over a framed UK fire service map at Royston Fire Station on Thursday.
Mr Hutt said: "I am honoured that the firefighters have thought of me. They are very special people.
"The map is fantastic," he said.
Mr Hutt led a campaign and collected more than 6,000 signatures in a petition against proposed cuts to the fire and rescue service last year.
The plans were eventually shelved by Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Mr Chapman said: "Terry always seems able to gain the ear of influential people at County Hall.
"That, coupled with his cheerful petition-collecting makes him one of the most remembered aspects of the campaign.
