Firefighters issued a warning after a fire was started deliberately near a Royston school.
The blaze, on land off Betjeman Road, Royston, started at around 9pm, and quickly spread to the grounds of nearby Roysia Middle School.
Firefighters from Royston tackled the blaze, which damaged around 10 square feet of the grounds, using two hose reels and returned to their station by 9.50pm.
A spokesman for Royston Fire Station said they believe the fire was started deliberately by a child or young person, and encouraged parents to talk to their children about the dangers of lighting fires.
