Firefighters helped paramedics free a trapped casualty after a three-car crash in Royston yesterday lunchtime.

The collision happened at about 12.15pm in Burns Road, with police, Royston and Baldock fire crews and paramedics all attending the scene afterwards.

A blue Citroen C3 and a silver Peugeot 308 had to be recovered afterwards. A black Ford Focus was also involved in the crash.

An ambulance service spokesman said the man was checked over at the scene but did not have to be taken to hospital.
