A blaze engulfed the roof of a two-storey house in Great Chishill in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The house in May Street was successfully evacuated at about 12.20am before two crews from Cambridge arrived along with two crews from Stevenage, one crew from Royston, one crew from Saffron Walden and one crew from Newmarket.
Wearing breathing apparatus, they extinguished the fire using hose reels and jets.
The crews returned to their stations by 8am.
A fire investigation is currently taking place to determine the cause of the fire.
