FIRE Crews were called to tackle a van fire at the Greenfield Service station on the A505.
Three fire crews, two from Royston and one from Letchworth and Baldock, raced to the scene at 1.25pm, and found a LPG-powered transit-style van well alight near one of the pumps on the forecourt.
Crews brought the fire under control using hoses and a jet, while cutting equipment and thermal imaging cameras were also taken to the scene.
Police attended the incident amid fears that the Westbound carriageway of the A505 would have to be closed, but the fire was extinguished by 3.45pm.
