FIRE fighters managed to save a thatched cottage which was engulfed in fire earlier today.
Five crews, two from Royston, two from Cambridge, and one from Sawston, arrived at the scene, in Whitecroft Road, Meldreth, at 11.30am to find the house well alight after a fire had started inside.
The fire fighters spent more than three hours battling the blaze, and though they were managed to save the roof, the interior of the house was badly damaged.
No one was injured in the incident and the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
