FLASH floods caused by heavy rain affected ten homes in Barley yesterday afternoon.
Fire crews were called to the village at about 4.30pm. Twelve appliances, including crews from Royston, attended the scene.
Firefighters had to free one man who was trapped in his car, while animal rescue teams were also required.
At one stage the main road through Barley was under 2-3ft of water, while the rain also caused a landslide in nearby Barkway. However, by this morning (Friday) the situation had eased.
Although a reception centre was set up at The Town House, Barley, to provide food and shelter for those affected, no evacuations were needed and residents returned to their homes last night.
