THREE fire engines were called to battle a tractor fire near Royston this morning.
Two crews from Royston and one from Letchworth and Baldock raced to the scene, near the A505 junction with Newmarket Road, at just before 11am this morning.
They found the tractor well alight, while fuel had spilled from the vehicle and was also on fire.
Crews wearing breathing apparatus used a jet to bring the fire under control. Royston fire station commander Sean Comerford was on hand to oversee the operation, along with his counterpart from the Baldock station, Andrew Nunn.

The fire was extinguished just before noon, and a spokesman for the fire service said the cause was accidental.
