FIREFIGHTERS attended a barn that had caught alight in the early hours of Sunday morning.

One crew from Royston and one from Cambridge were alerted to the blaze, on Angle Lane in Shepreth, at 3.50am.

Flames at the barn, which measured 100 square metres and was used for storing hay, were brought under control by 4.40am.

Crews returned to their stations by 5.25am. The cause of the fire was accidental.
