Take on a new challenge for 2014 by volunteering at one of Crow country’s top tourist attractions.

Wimpole Hall is holding a volunteer event on Saturday so that people can find out more about taking up unpaid positions at the National Trust property.

Sue Price has been volunteering as a room guide at the stately home for the last six summer seasons.

She said: “I really like meeting people and I have always been interested in history, particularly social history. I enjoy talking to the visitors about the different families who have lived at Wimpole and I try to make the house come alive for them.”

Wimpole are looking for volunteers with an enthusiastic and friendly manner, who can offer a regular amount of time each week, particularly at weekends. Opportunities are available inside the house and in its grounds.

Lynda Minshull, recently joined the team at Wimpole as a garden volunteer. She said: “The staff and volunteers are very friendly and there is always something interesting to do in the gardens, whatever the time of year. It also gives me great pride in thinking that I have contributed in some small way to this great estate.”

The new volunteer event takes place at the Old Rectory Restaurant, Wimpole Hall, on Saturday, January 11. Information on indoor roles will be available from 10am-noon, while anyone interested in outdoor roles should visit between 1pm-3pm.
