A PERSON died after being struck by a train near Meldreth Station earlier today.
British Transport Police say the victim was crossing the line using the foot crossing at the station when they were hit by the 3.21pm train from Hitchin to Cambridge.
Police were called to the scene at 3.49pm, while paramedics also attended the incident. An air ambulance was called but not required.
A spokesman for the British Transport Police said that the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
The line was reopened at 4.57pm, but commuters can expect to experience delays of up to 50 minutes
