FARMER Robert Law has been shortlisted in this year's Farmers Weekly awards.

Mr Law, who runs Thirft Farm, Royston, impressed the judges in the Arable Farmer of the Year section.

The judges were impressed by his ability to "apply a completely non-farming mentality to farming issues".

Charles Abel, tech-nical editor of Farmers Weekly said Mr Law had shown "hard graft" and an "uncanny ability" to shape his own success.

Mr Law built a successful arable enterprise from a virtual standing start 25 years ago.

The award winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel in central London on Friday, December 1.
