THE parents of the three-year-old girl who died after being was struck by a sports car in Royston say they have “been destroyed” by her death.

Frances Chin, of Gresley Lodge, Old North Road in Royston, was rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital after a red Mazda collided with her and a woman in Kneesworth Street on May 29.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics and medical staff she died in the hospital.

Frances’ parents Sally and Sam Chin have released a brief statement paying tribute to the girl and thanking their friends who helped them in this dark time.

“Words cannot describe how we are feeling right now,” they said.

“Frances was our life, when she was born she was another gift in addition to our daughter Chloe. We are finding this extremely difficult.

“Since this has happened people have been so kind. We would like to thank everyone for all of their assistance and help and kindness.

“We would especially like to thank staff at the Queens Road playgroup, Coombes Community Centre and Tannery Drift School, Linda Bance, George Fisher, all friends who has been giving their support and the funeral director.

“We really appreciate all of the support.

“No words can do justice to Frances. She was so clever, so bright. Our family unit has been destroyed by this.”

The inquest into her death is expected to find she died of multiple injuries, the woman who was also struck survived but suffered leg injuries.

A 57-year-old man has been arrested and bailed in relation to the incident until July 19.

Hertfordshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which took place just after 3pm near The White Bear pub.

Inspector Matt Thompson said: “This was a tragic incident.

“We are very keen to hear from anyone who saw the road traffic collision and so may be able to explain how it happened. “This is quite a busy road, with the White Bear pub nearby, and people may have seen the collision take place while they were out and about.

“They could have been outside the pub at one of the tables, or inside looking out of the window and seen something.

“If anyone witnessed anything and did not speak to officers at the scene, I would ask that you contact me via the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222.”
