Tributes will be paid on Friday to a 34-year-old woman who was killed in a traffic tragedy in the Midlands.
Emily Burgess, who was known by her maiden name Emily Bedford during her school years at Studlands Rise, Greneway and Meridian schools, was killed when her car collided with a bus near Macclesfield on Thursday, October 1.
She worked at the Priory Cinema in her teens before embarking on a career with the National Health Service, working as an accident and emergency medical receptionist.
Before leaving the area she had worked at Cambridge’s Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
She moved away to Sandbach in Cheshire in 2012 with her partner Martin Gunther and his daughter Zoe. At the time of the tragedy Emily and Martin were engaged to be married.
The collision happened on the A536 Congleton Road near Gawsworth at 7.45am. Emily was driving in the direction of Macclesfield when her car collided with the bus, and she died at the scene.
The funeral will take place at 1pm on Friday, October 16, at Cambridge Crematorium.
Emily’s sister Roddy Bedford said that any donations to Alzheimer’s Society, a charity dear to Emily’s heart, would be very gratefully received.
Her grandmother and aunts had suffered from the disease, as had members of her fiancé Martin’s family.
Emily and relatives had been planning to take part in the Liverpool Memory Walk in aid of Alzheimer’s Society, which took place three days after her death.
