100 homes left without power
HOUSEHOLDS were left without power when an electrical substation in Royston exploded.
It is thought more than 100 homes were affected by the fault, which occurred at the station in King James Way, Royston, yesterday (Thursday).
Fire engines were called to the are at 1.30pm after a fault was reported with the equipment. Police were also on hand to close the road while engineers from EDF Energy worked to fix the problem.
Power was restored at around 3.15pm.
