ESTHER Rantzen made a guest appearance at a charity fund-raising event on Monday.

The chairman of Childline, and NSPCC trustee gave a talk to fund-raisers at a lunch in Sandon.

The event was organised by Sheila and Ray Fisher, who celebrated their golden wedding anniversary the same day, to raise money for the NSPCC.

Mrs Fisher said: "We had a party on Sunday and decided to put the marquee to good use.

"We are hoping to raise a substantial amount for the NSPCC."

About 80 supporters of the charity bought tickets for the event.

Sally Phipps, committee fund-raising manager for the North and East Herts branch of the NSPCC, said: "The money raised today will make a difference to a large number of children who will be able to access support at difficult times of their lives and when they need it most."

Childline and the NSPCC joined forces and aim to end cruelty to children.
