A DERELICT former vicarage could be converted into two houses. The Grade II listed building in Hare Street Road, Buntingford, has been empty for more than a decade but owner Roger Wade is expected to submit a planning application to East Herts District Council to convert the building into accommodation. The building should have been restored as part of the Co-op's development in 1996 when the store agreed with East Herts Council to start work on the building within one year of the store opening. But 11 years later the disused building is continuing to deteriorate. Cllr Pat Whittaker said: "The building is in a sad state of repair. It stands in a prominent part of the town, but it is being left to go to ruin." A district council spokesman said discussions were being held with the owner.
