Eco-friendly playtime for school

CHILDREN at Bassingbourn Primary School have found a uniquely eco-friendly way of having fun at playtimes.

Key Stage One pupils planted willow saplings and weaved them together to create their own tunnel.

After the PTA’s offer to fund some new playground architecture, parent and Bassingbourn resident Simon Saggars, who is a keen environmentalist, had the idea for the tunnel.

He visited the school to help the children create the structure last week.

Wendy Thompson, chair of the PTA said “We are delighted to have been able to help the children to build this lovely, growing play tunnel for the school.”
