DOZENS of people turned out for an Easter eggs-travaganza over the bank holiday weekend.
Family event Easter Scrambled Eggs was held at the Coombes Community Centre in Royston on Good Friday afternoon.
More than 140 turned out to enjoy the Easter-themed activities, which included glass painting, decorating eggs and egg cups, making bead necklaces, bangles and key rings.
Youngsters also made colourful Easter cards and baskets to carry their decorated biscuits.
And a crazy egg drop experiment saw children discovering how to protect raw eggs with packing, before dropping them to see how they stayed whole.
Margaret MacCormack, who leads Ignite Community Church with husband Michael, organised the event. Both her and Michael have run annual activities during the Easter period for several years.
Margaret said: “We were just on the go the whole time, there were so many activities going on.
“The egg experiment was great fun and there were lots of lovely creative ideas.
“Whole families were there and we had 80 children alone. It was just amazing to see so many people come in.”
The event, which had the backing of other churches in the town, even attracted more people than thought.
“We were supported by other churches in Royston. I’m so pleased we are able to reach out into the community,” added Margaret.
“We were quite overwhelmed by the response we received on Friday.”
Town mayor Lindsay Davidson also dropped in to enjoy the festivities, and the Singing Kettle cafe was open for families to enjoy homemade muffins. biscuits and hot cross buns.
