Early bird GCSE maths passes at Royston school hit record high

A RECORD number of pupils from a Royston school have gained their maths GCSE seven months early.
Pupils at The Meridian School sat exams before Christmas, with 75 per cent – a new school record – gaining grades A*-C.
David Atkins, assistant head and maths teacher at the school, said: “We are so pleased with the achievement of this cohort of students, all of whom worked really hard to achieve these results, many of which were above target.
“Indeed, the A*-C figure of 75 per cent compares with a National figure of 42 per cent and we are pleased that twice as many Meridian students achieved an A or A* in November than students did nationally.”
