ROYSTON Rider Rachel Dyke was crowned Junior Open Show Jumping champion at the British Riding Clubs National Championships recently.

Dyke, 17, and her horse Sunny Destination – a 16-year-old Belgium Warmblood – fought off 76 competitors to win the Championships which were held at Lincoln showground.

The pair proved to be unbeatable in the third round jump-off against the clock, and not only did they record the fastest time of the day, they also knocked five seconds off the best senior competitors’ time from the previous day over an identical course.

Dyke, who is also a very keen member of the Cambridgeshire Hunt Pony Club, also managed to pick up fourth place in the Team Show Jumping event on her other horse, Lightning 41.

Riders had qualified from area competitions held across England, Scotland and Wales and Dyke was thrilled with her win having ridden at the championships for the last three years.
