A MAN has been jailed for three years today (Friday) after hitting and killing a Royston toddler in a crash last year.

Carlo Zambonini, of Old North Road in Royston, received the sentence at Cambridge Crown Court after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving last month. He was also given a driving ban.

The 58-year-old was driving a red Mazda sports car on May 29 last year when he hit three-year-old Frances Chin as she walked with her sister and mother down Kneesworth Street in the town.

She later died of her injuries in hospital.
