PETERSFIELD School in Orwell dressed up with a reading awareness day for pupils.

The day was organised by the schools parent-teacher association, which over the course of the year, has held a number of fund-raising projects.

A spokesman for the PTA said: "The idea for the day was to help raise the awareness of reading and show the children that they can enjoy books.

"The day was a great success, and all the pupils enjoyed themselves."

All 150 pupils at the school dressed as characters from their favourite books, including Harry Potter, Dennis the Menace, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Lord of the Rings.

One teacher came dressed as a witch, "much to the amusement of the children".

The money raised from the day will be donated towards funding topic books and future school projects.
