Dog lovers in Royston are urged to step up for a Sunday walk which organisers hope will keep the search for missing author Helen Bailey and her dog Boris in people’s minds.

The 51-year-old disappeared from her Royston home on Monday, April 11, with her brown miniature dachshund Boris – neither have been seen since.

Police were seen on Saturday evening searching for clues near the town’s Tesco Extra store, but a spokeswoman said: “Nothing of significance was found.”

Jay Nolan-Latchford, one of the team behind the Where is Helen Bailey? Facebook group, said: “The walk was suggested by Annamarie Scott-Coomber who has Boris’ half brother, Chip. It started off as a sausage dog walk to raise awareness, and then grew to all walkers with any dogs or anyone who wants to come along to help.”

Jay says support from dog walkers and local businesses has been ‘fantastic’ and that they will be handing out leaflets and flyers, donated by Hales Printers in Royston, on the two-mile circular route meeting at The Heath Sports Centre car park at 11am, going across Royston Heath to Therfield and back.

Helen, who has had seven-year-old Boris since he was a puppy, is a member of the Royston Dog Walkers group on Facebook.

“Boris is her best buddy, they were always out together,” Jay said.

“Dog walking is such a big part of her, when she moved from London to Royston it was walking Boris that helped her settle in – dog walkers are so welcoming and friendly, it’s a great community to be a part of.

“So we’re asking people to come along, and let’s keep Helen and Boris very much in the public eye.”
