THE district council is "pleased" with progress to the £400,000 redevelopment to Royston's Fish Hill Square.

North Herts District Council claim the work is on schedule and said they are working with traders to minimise commercial disruption.

Contractors, Maylim, have completed improvements to Jepps Lane - which is now open to the public.

Councillor Tom Brindley, NHDC’s portfolio holder for planning, transport and enterprise, said: “We are pleased with the progress Maylim is making in Fish Hill Square and everything looks to be on schedule.

“Once again, I want to thank local people and businesses for their patience while work is completed.

“We have received money from central government which has funded this project, and I am sure that the enhanced square will bring more people to the town centre, boost local trade and make Royston an even more attractive place to live and work.”
