Melbourn Playgroup has been awarded ‘outstanding’ grade from Ofsted in all areas.

The grade for the preschool and out of school club is a step-up from their previous inspection in 2015, when they were deemed as ‘good’.

Manager Jane Crawford said, “We are a really busy preschool and out of school club with 170 children who attend regularly.

“So we are really delighted to be able to achieve this ‘outstanding’ grade now when we have never been bigger or busier.

“Everyone contributed and we could not have done it without each and every one of us!”

The report commends the “exceptional team” at the setting – which is based at the village primary school.

Ofsted said: “Staff are highly-skilled teachers” and that the team providea excellent care and learning for all children”

The body also states that: “Lively and animated storytelling by playgroup staff has children thoroughly captivated and they are eager to get involved.”
