COMMUTERS on road and rail faced delays this morning.
An accident on the M11 between Junction Nine (Saffron Walden) and Junction Eight (Bishop’s Stortford) led to long tailbacks in both directions.
Though the accident has now been cleared, traffic is still slow southbound up to Junction 11 (the A10, Cambridge).
Meanwhile over-running engineering works near Hitchin have led to train services on the Great Northern route between Cambridge and London King’s Cross being delayed by up to 90 minutes.
Train operator First Capital Connect said a normal service on the route, which serves Royston and the other stations in Crow country, should have resumed by 9.45am.
