A DANCER from Royston has won a place at The Royal Ballet School.
Rebecca Scanlon, 11, was selected from more than 1,000 applicants to win one of only 12 scholarships at the school.
She will begin boarding in September.
A pupil at the Ruth Ellen Dance School in Royston since she was six, Rebecca will be joining The Royal Ballet School in September.
Ruth Ellen Dance School principal Ruth Davies said: "It is rare for us to even put a pupil forward to the Royal Ballet School because so few places are available.
"Rebecca is the first dancer I've had accepted there, so it really is a massive achievement."
Rebecca had to go through a gruelling application process, including two auditions and a written test.
Miss Davies added: "It is clear Rebecca has a lot of potential.
