Pupils at a dance school have had an art attack and recreated masterpieces from classic painters.
Classes from DanceMatters, based in Bassingbourn and Litlington, have been taking part in a social media art initiative dubbed ‘VanGoYourself’, which invites people to recreate classic paintings in a contemporary setting.
Dance teacher Naomi Wallen said: “The jazz dancers recreated a painting of a rich family and girls enjoyed deciding who would play each role.
“The Adult Tap class took the beautiful picture ‘Memories of Lawn Tennis’ and retitled it ‘Memories of Tap Dance’, clutching their tap shoes rather than racquets.
“I try to encourage creativity and cultural awareness in all the dancers, whether that is in dance, painting, theatre or literature. It was a fun thing to do and we all giggled a great deal. I set the Half Term challenge to all the dancers to recreate their own paintings. I look forward to seeing their finished photographs.”
