Cyclists campaigning for a highway between Royston and Cambridge are encouraging people to get on their bikes and log their journeys.
A10 Corridor Cycling Campaigners are trying to build up a picture of their journeys in response to the Greater Cambridge City Deal executive board’s decision to put the £7.2 million cycle scheme on hold.
The highway would run separately to the A10, and provide links to Foxton, Meldreth and Shepreth railway stations, as well as the Melbourn science park – but it was not included in the list of schemes to be developed in the first five years.
Melbourn county councillor and campaigner Susan van de Ven said: “It’s not a competition but rather an effort to paint a picture and raise awareness of the versatility and practicality of cycling.
“Lots of people have adopted the habit of cycling much longer distances to work and the obvious patterns are to employment centres in Cambridge, Melbourn Science Park and Royston.”
