THE Royston Crow presented Buntingford Town Council with a cheque for £300 on Monday.

The town council used the donation to pay for the Christmas tree for the annual Lights of Love Ceremony, which was held in December.

Hundreds of lights were wrapped around the tree, and people taking part in the ceremony had the chance to sponsor a light in remembrance of a family member or friend.

The event is organised by the Isobel Hospice - a charity which enhances the quality of life of people suffering with cancer or other serious illnesses in Hertfordshire.

Deputy town clerk Eddie Plume said: "The Crow's offer was timely. If they hadn't come forward, we would have been struggling to find sponsors elsewhere.

"Isobel Hospice is very grateful for sponsors, or it couldn't raise the money it does.
