A LOCAL craftsman has produced a new wooden cross for Barkway Primary School.
The cross was designed by Ken Sell, and has been donated to the school by the village church.
Rev Sarah Hillman, priest in charge at Barkway Parish Church, said: "The design is based on one of the crosses we have at the church.
"We wanted to give the school a gift which symbolised the link between the church and the school, and Ken volunteered to put this together for us."
Head teacher Jenny Heinzelmann said: "Ken's wife was a cleaner here for 16 years, so it's nice to have kept that link going.
"The cross is a great addition to the school. It's beautifully made, and the craftsmanship is very high quality.
