PARISH councillors have pledged to support residents who are under threat of losing a sheltered accommodation scheme.
But owners North Herts Homes has said in a statement this week that is proposing to close just one wing at Wheatsheaf Meadow, in Barkway.
The statement said: "We are currently consulting tenants about arrangements, but it is anticipated that some will prefer to move to other schemes."
The statement continued that residents in the west wing - the wing earmarked for closure - may be moved to the better equipped east wing.
Residents from Wheatsheaf Meadow attended a meeting of the parish council on Tuesday evening where members were discussing the issue.
North Herts Homes is set to close down the west wing after it was discovered not to be up to standard and could not be made so at a reasonable cost.
