A COUNCIL road show is coming to Bassingbourn.

South Cambridgeshire District Council's first scrutiny and overview committee meeting of the New Year will take place at Bassingbourn Village College today (Thursday).

Committee chairman Cllr John Batchelor said: "The scrutiny committee makes a point of meeting in South Cambridgeshire villages to make it easier for residents to attend and we very much look forward to welcoming them to our first meeting of 2009.

"The main topics on the agenda are crime and disorder and neighbourhood panels.

"In addition, do contact us with your questions or comments on any local services to give us the opportunity to respond as fully as we can."

The committee plays an important role in ensuring that all local services, not just those the council provides, are meeting the needs of residents.

An agenda is available on the district council website, and people are welcome to send questions in advance for a response on the night.

Cllr Batchelor added: "Our aim is to help to improve local services whether or not they are provided by South Cambs, so I hope people will take up our invitation to give their views."

For a copy of the agenda and papers, or to send in a question, please email scrutiny@scambs.gov.uk or call scrutiny officer Jackie Sayers on 08450 450 500.

The agenda can be viewed at www.scambs.gov.uk
