SAFETY problems have caused North Herts District Council to halt grass-cutting work on the A505 Royston bypass.

The work will now be carried out by Herts Highways which is said to have "sophisticated equipment" to deal with the problems.

Herts Highways will also be responsible for maintenance work on the roundabout leading to the Twigden estate at Melbourn Road.

The district council will continue to maintain roundabouts on the Royston bypass as these are within the urban area and have a speed limit of 30mph.
