THE running of Ward Freman Swimming Pool in Buntingford has been taken over by a new contractor.

Stevenage Leisure (SLL), which has a wealth of experience in the leisure contract management in-dustry, took over the day-to-day running of the pool from Aspire (East Herts Leisure Trust) on Friday.

Geoff Caine, SLL's business development director who will be managing the con-tract, said: "We've got some challenges ahead but these are primarily associated with the swiftness of the contract change and we'll work through these with the staff and our contractors.

"We need to move on together and reassure the public that it's business as usual and we look forward to seeing them supporting us and using the facilities regularly."

Cllr Bob Parker, executive member for community development, said: "Leisure services for our public are in good hands. SLL has a good reputation and lots of experience.
